WHAT DOES 'BRITISH MADE' ACTUALLY MEAN?

It is well known that a by-product of the loss of much of British industry is that many components can no longer be sourced in the U.K. This is particularly true of the electronic / electrical and electromechanical industries.

Nevertheless, many companies still assemble and manufacture products in the U.K. albeit using imported components and technology.

A survey of manufacturers by BMFQ established a figure of 60% U.K based manufacturing cost - including labour and quality control - as a reasonable qualification for a  product to be considered 'British made'.

Companies whose products meet this criteria are welcome to join us and benefit from the use of the BMFQ registered trademark.
